Drypoint etching

Drypoint etching is a printing process in which a plastic, glass or metal plate is etched with a design, ink is rolled and spread into the etching marks and the plate is pressed therefore printing onto paper.

Firstly etch your design into the plate

Roll ink onto the plate

Using skrim remove the excess ink from the plate so that only the design is left

Dampen a sheet of watercolour paper

Place the watercolour paper onto the inked plate

Roll through a printing press

Remove paper from plate
